The Demon of Envy Attacks You Physically: How to Resist It?

The demon of envy is one of the most insidious and cunning enemies a person can face. He never rests and never tires of pursuing his victim—attacking their body, soul, and mind alike. His path begins with a subtle infiltration into the heart, planting doubts, stirring fears, and whispering despair, until the soul weakens and the mind becomes unsettled. Then he turns his assault toward the body, waging a silent war that leaves no visible trace in medical tests or scans, yet drains the body’s energy and vitality from within.

This battle often begins quietly. Medical reports may show nothing abnormal, yet the afflicted person feels constant exhaustion, strange pains, or a heaviness deep inside—as if something unseen is draining their strength. This physical war is not imaginary; it is one of the demon’s tactics to weaken the believer gradually, extinguishing their inner resolve and spiritual light.

His ultimate goal is to exhaust the body so that the mind collapses, and when the body falters and the spirit trembles, he finds it easy to whisper despair and hopelessness. He makes the afflicted believe that recovery is impossible, that prayer and treatment are futile, leading them to abandon remembrance, ruqyah (spiritual healing), and supplication. Thus, they sink deeper into a cycle of fatigue, confusion, and spiritual numbness.

Yet what many fail to realize is that this war, despite its intensity, is not a balanced one—because Allah the Almighty has not granted Satan any true power over His believing servants except through whispering and fear. As the Qur’an declares:

“Indeed, the plot of Satan is weak.” — [An-Nisa 4:76]

The more a believer strengthens their trust in Allah, the weaker the demon’s schemes become, and his influence fades into nothingness.

The afflicted person who truly understands this hidden war—and realizes that the pain they endure is not merely a random illness but a test, a purification, and a chance for inner growth—will begin their journey of healing with clarity and confidence. They will no longer see suffering as the end, but as a pathway toward recovery and spiritual strength. Through patience and awareness, they come to see that the power of the spirit far outweighs any pain caused by envy or the whispers of the devil.

The Physical Manifestations of the Envy Demon’s War

The Demon of Envy wages a subtle yet exhausting war on the human body, attacking it in ways that differ from one person to another depending on their physical weaknesses. Among the most evident symptoms are:

1. Migrating Pains in the Body:

The afflicted person often feels pain that moves from the head to the back, then to the joints or abdomen, without any clear medical explanation. But do not despair—Allah is fully capable of healing and relieving you from this suffering. Allah, the Exalted, says:

“And He sends down water from the sky, giving life thereby to the earth after its death. Indeed, in that is a sign for people who listen.”

(Surah An-Nahl, 16:65)

Just as Allah revives the earth after its death, He can also rejuvenate the weakened body when His servant turns to Him with remembrance, ruqyah (spiritual healing), and patience.

2. Hair Loss and Loss of Vitality:

Many afflicted individuals notice sudden hair loss, lack of energy, or a pale complexion without any medical cause. This often results from the negative spiritual effect of the demon’s influence on the body, which drains vitality and manifests as visible fatigue—leading the person to feel even more hopeless and discouraged.

3. Persistent Headaches and Chronic Pain:

One of the well-known signs of envy and the accompanying demonic influence is a headache that does not subside with ordinary treatments. In Sahih Muslim, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“Headache is from the heat of Hell, so cool it with water.”

This hadith reminds us of the importance of physical care, seeking natural remedies, and maintaining rest to support healing.

4. Cold Extremities and Numbness:

The afflicted may feel constant coldness in the hands or feet, or tingling sensations in specific parts of the body. This continuous discomfort often disrupts the person’s comfort and focus during daily life, making them feel trapped in an endless cycle of unease.

5. Frequent Urination and General Fatigue:

Some people experience excessive urination, weakness, or persistent fatigue that medical tests cannot explain. These are signs that the body is struggling internally. And for those unaware that such suffering might be caused by a spiritual affliction, much time and energy can be lost in medical consultations—without finding true relief.

The Purpose Behind These Symptoms

The goal behind all these symptoms and suffering is not merely to cause physical pain or exhaustion, but rather part of a cunning plan executed by the Demon of Envy to weaken one’s faith and determination. His aim is to drain the body so that the spirit collapses, leaving the afflicted person trapped in a cycle of doubt, fear, and despair. By exhausting the body, he seeks to break the will, making the person abandon their healing journey and lose hope of recovery.

The Demon of Envy cannot stand to see a believer steadfast or at peace; he wants to make them feel powerless and perpetually fatigued, convincing them that recovery is impossible. Yet in truth, he is extremely weak, as Allah the Almighty says in the Qur’an:

“Indeed, the plot of Satan has ever been weak.” (Surah An-Nisa, 4:76)

His strength lies only in illusion and fear. When the afflicted person gives in to fear and despair, the demon gains control — but when they face him with patience, remembrance of Allah, and trust in divine wisdom, his power fades away. Every moment of endurance, every prayer, and every act of faith weakens his grip.

So, do not view these symptoms as a punishment, but as a test of your faith and resilience — an opportunity to strengthen your soul through reliance on Allah. The true victory is not merely in the disappearance of pain, but in remaining firm and faithful despite it.

Physical Means of Resistance

The battle against the Demon of Envy is not purely spiritual — it is physical as well. The body is the vessel that carries your soul; when the body collapses, the spirit weakens. Therefore, taking care of one’s physical health is just as essential as nurturing the spiritual and emotional aspects. Here are the most important practical means of resistance:

1. Following Natural Treatments:

It is vital for the afflicted person to make use of natural remedies that strengthen the body and restore its balance — such as drinking plenty of water, consuming honey, bathing with water over which Qur’anic verses have been recited, and using olive oil for anointing the body.

2. Consistency in Ruqyah (Qur’anic Healing):

Ruqyah is the believer’s strongest shield, whether performed through reciting Qur’anic verses or listening to them.

Allah the Almighty says:

“And We send down of the Qur’an that which is healing and mercy for the believers.” (Surah Al-Isra, 17:82)

The Qur’an is both a spiritual and physical cure, purifying the body from the effects of envy and strengthening spiritual immunity.

3. Regular Physical Exercise:

Even simple movements at home can make a difference. Exercise helps stimulate blood circulation, expel negative energy, and improve mood.

An active body is difficult for the demon to dominate, because vitality and motion create an energy opposite to the weakness and laziness that your enemy desires for you.

4. Patience and Perseverance: The Keys to Victory

The person afflicted by the Demon of Envy must understand that the path to healing is not quick; it requires patience, endurance, and steadfast faith.

Every pain you feel is a sign that you are in battle, and every moment of patience is a step toward victory.

The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:

“Know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship.” (Narrated by At-Tirmidhi)

Patience during healing is not mere endurance — it is a noble act of worship that elevates ranks, erases sins, and simultaneously weakens your enemy.

5. Faith in Healing and Trust in Allah:

When the pain intensifies, the demon may whisper that treatment is useless or that recovery is far away. But remember the words of Allah, the Exalted:

“Say, ‘Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our Protector.’ And upon Allah let the believers rely.” (Surah At-Tawbah, 9:51)

Healing is in the hands of Allah alone. Medicine is only a means, and patience is your weapon. The stronger your heart remains on the path of healing, the weaker the demon’s influence becomes, until his plot fades entirely.

Know that the purpose of the envy demon (Shayṭān al-Ḥasad) is to destroy you physically so that you surrender mentally and spiritually. But Allah, the Most High, has promised the believers that the plot of Satan is weak against those who seek refuge in Him.

So be strong, remain steadfast in remembrance (dhikr), continue with ruqyah (spiritual healing) and natural remedies, and take care of your body just as you care for your soul.

Every hardship you feel today will one day stand as a testimony to your patience and perseverance — and a sign of the healing that is near, by the will of Allah.

Allah Almighty said:
“Indeed, with hardship comes ease.” — [Ash-Sharh: 6]

Be optimistic, for relief is near and will come at the perfect time, by the permission of Allah.
